Overview:

Our St. Petersburg, FL campus is searching for a Financial Analyst to join our superior Finance Team.  The Financial Analyst is responsible for the coordination, development and maintenance of consistent forecasting and planning tools for various levels of functional management within a division of the company.



Responsibilities:
  • Provide financial analysis to the general manager, product managers and departmental managers within a product line that offers meaningful insight into the business.
    •  Review various metrics and other analytical reporting tools with General Managers to gain greater insight of revenue mix, pricing advantages and related cost drivers
    • Review variance analyses of monthly actual results prepared by accounting, both P&L and key metrics, and present to product line managers
    • Assist product managers with product pricing and packaging alternatives
    • Work with product marketing managers to provide complete analysis of various marketing programs.  Includes tracking actual spend to budget, review of ROI, projecting the impact of changes in marketing programs, and providing the cost impact of various distribution alternatives.
    • Assist product line managers with market and competitive analyses.  Remain up to date on current industry and economic events that may impact the business and bring them to the attention of the Product Line management.
    • Review trends on a monthly basis.
    • Provide sales managers with detailed variance analyses of budget to actual results by product and channel including unit and ASP analysis.
    • Using pipeline reports and other tools, review weekly/monthly revenue forecasts with sales to assess risks and opportunities.
    • Define, track and analyze the utilization of training and professional service staff.
    • Review and assist in preparation of commission plans with product line managers to ensure quotas and structure align with strategic and AOP goals including a periodic review for changes in focus.
    • Ensure promotions result in proper revenue recognition and that such promotions can be facilitated and tracked by the reporting group to be able to determine success rates.
  •  Responsible for ensuring forecasts reflect the interlock of business assumptions determined by the product line general manager and the related departmental managers.
    •  Work with sales and product management to build a detailed sales forecasting model by product, by vertical, by channel.  Includes developing key base line metrics to compare to actuals throughout the year.
    • Review and assist product marketing with development of the annual marketing plan, includes interlock on timing of programs with the planned releases scheduled by the development team and the related sales forecast.
    • Maintain a support contract forecasting tool to update projected renewals, attachments, etc, and allow accurate forecasted deferred revenue calculations. 
    • Review training and professional service budgets for consistency with sales forecasts.
    • Maintain the comprehensive compensation planning tool to reflect changes to planned headcount.
    • Review the capital expenditure budget and ensure ROI’s are completed and consistent with product plans.
    • Ensure that all departmental budgets/forecasts within the product line interlock and support each other from a business perspective.
  • Work with general managers in the strategic planning process including preparation of financial scenarios and assumptions.
  • Coordinate monthly GM meetings to discuss current product line activities, trends, opportunities and threats to the product line.
    • Regularly attend and participate in product line departmental meetings (sales, marketing, engineering).
    • Be fully prepared to present operating results and explain trends at product line Operations Reviews including Power Point presentations.
    • Develop revenue generating ideas based upon product line observations, idea exchange with product managers, Insights feedback and competitor practices.  Make efficiency suggestions where warranted and cost saving suggestions when appropriate.
    • Be a constant source of knowledge on key performance indicators for the assigned product line, business trends, risks and opportunities. 
  • Safeguard the business model by participating in all product introductions, pricing and structural contract decisions for new sales and any service contracts.
  • Continually assess the product line’s lifecycle characteristics and adjust the business model and expectations rapidly as conditions change (ie, growth, harvest, sunset).
  • Seek opportunities for continuing improvements and streamlining reporting and business processes to enable management to more effectively and efficiently manage the product line. 
  • Prepare other analysis as requested by the product line managers including assisting in merger and acquisition activities by preparing forecasts as requested.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in finance, accounting or economics
  • Three to five years related experience and/or training
  • CPA or MBA preferred
  • Solid Excel experience
  • Experience in forecasting and analysis in a high tech environment and working with managers in remote locations.
  • Must be a self-starter, flexible and able to work on time sensitive projects without daily supervision.  
  • Must have excellent communication skills (written, verbal, technical and non-technical) as well as an ability to work successfully in cross-functional teams
  • Strong analytical, organizational & multitasking skills are critical
